Source

The incident beam, produced, conditioned, and defined before the sample. A walk along the source-stage devices; the sample and detection stages are documented as their own composed-fixture pages, the controllers that drive these devices are on the Controls page, and the supplies they draw on are in Operations. Each device pairs its human name with the EPICS handle, its key specs, and whether it is field replaceable. new marks a device not yet modeled in CORA; confirm marks a value taken from the docs that staff have not yet verified.

Insertion devices

Two switchable straight-section sources. The undulator drives high-flux micro- and nano-tomography; the wiggler drives wide-field large-FOV white-beam microtomography. The operation mode selects which is in use.

Enclosure: TomoWISE-optics.

Note

z is measured from the straight-section centre here (CPMU14 at -505 mm, 3T3PW at +1734 mm). All specifications are TDR design targets.

Name Family PV Key specs Replaceable Status
CPMU14 InsertionDevice device type: cryogenic-permanent-magnet-undulator
period: 14 mm
min gap: 3.8 mm
length: 2.0 m (cryostat 2.67 m)
max k eff: 1.84
power at 500ma: 11.1 kW
primary source for high-flux micro- and nano-tomography
new confirm
3T3PW InsertionDevice device type: three-pole-wiggler
field: 3 T
magnetic length: 412 mm
min gap: 11 mm
power at 500ma: 1.6 kW
wide-field large-FOV white-beam microtomography

Front end

Fixed and movable masks plus the heat absorber that shape the beam and absorb power before the optics hutch.

Enclosure: TomoWISE-optics.

Note

z from the CPMU14 source (TDR Table 7.1). Mask is now a shared catalog Family; the heat-absorber Family is not yet in the catalog (it renders as plain text pending the passive beam-path tier), bound loosely by design intent.

Name Family PV Key specs Replaceable Status
FM1 Mask z mm: 14000

FM2 Mask z mm: 15000
aperture: 1.100 mrad X / 0.100 mrad Y
power absorbed: up to 7 kW
second fixed mask

MSM Mask z mm: 16500
aperture: 1.1 x 0.1 / 0.1 x 0.1 mrad2
movable safety mask; <100 um lateral parasitic motion (design)
new confirm
HeatAbsorber HeatAbsorber z mm: 17000
power budget: 4 kW
front-end heat absorber protecting the safety shutter; a second, near-identical heat absorber sits in the optics-hutch safety unit (SU) with SS1/SS2 (TDR Table 8.1), not separately modelled here
new confirm

Optics hutch

The conditioning optics that filter, monochromate, and define the beam delivered to the experiment hutch. Diagnostic modules DM1/DM2 carry the bremsstrahlung collimators, white-beam stops, slits, and beam-position monitors.

Enclosure: TomoWISE-optics.

Note

z from the straight-section centre (TDR Table 8.1). Filter / BPM / collimator / beam-stop Families are not all in the catalog yet and render as plain text.
