Source

The incident beam, produced, conditioned, and defined before the sample. A walk along the source-stage devices; the sample and detection stages are documented as their own composed-fixture pages, the controllers that drive these devices are on the Controls page, and the supplies they draw on are in Operations. Each device pairs its human name with the EPICS handle, its key specs, and whether it is field replaceable. new marks a device not yet modeled in CORA; confirm marks a value taken from the docs that staff have not yet verified.

Property Value
Facility aps
Sector Sector 12
Tier Unit
Source insertion-device (confirm: 12-ID is an undulator sector; the USAXS instrument config does not expose the insertion-device gap as a device, so the undulator detail is SRC-1)

Enclosures

Enclosure Role Facility Permit signal
12-ID-optics optics-hutch aps confirm: PSS permit leaf not in source; the shared 12-ID optics zone, hutch grouping is ENC-1 (PSS-1)
12-ID-E experiment-hutch aps confirm: PSS permit leaf unknown; the USAXS experiment hutch (ENC-1, PSS-1)

Machine

The machine-level source state, observed not driven.

Enclosure: 12-ID-optics.

Note

Observe-only APS machine state, the loose StorageRing pattern reused from the other APS deployments (MACHINE-1). The undulator gap is not in the USAXS instrument config (SRC-1).

Name Family PV Key specs Replaceable Status
StorageRing StorageRing confirm: APS storage-ring state (current, fill, status); observe-only, the exact PVs are MACHINE-1 machine source state; observe-only, not photon-path flux (MACHINE-1) new confirm

Optics

The monochromator, the attenuator filter bank, and the guard and USAXS slits.

Enclosure: 12-ID-optics.

Note

All reuse existing catalog Families. The attenuator reuses the Filter Family (the I03 / i15-1 precedent), not a new Attenuator kind.

Name Family PV Key specs Replaceable Status
Monochromator Monochromator confirm: the 12-ID monochromator (dodal MyMonochromator wraps the energy/feedback PVs); crystal cut, d-spacing, energy range are MONO-1 the shared 12-ID monochromator; the instrument config wraps it as a soft device, the real PVs are MONO-1 new confirm
Attenuator Filter 12idPyFilter: Al/Ti attenuator filter bank (FilterBank FL1); reuses the Filter Family, not a new Attenuator kind (ATTN-1) new confirm
GuardSlit Slit usxLAX: guard slit (GSlitDevice); blade-axis map is OPT-2 new confirm
UsaxsSlit Slit usxLAX: USAXS-defining slit (UsaxsSlitDevice); blade-axis map is OPT-2 new confirm

Usaxs optics

The Bonse-Hart matched crystal pair: the collimator stage upstream of the sample and the analyzer stage downstream, rocked through the Bragg condition to resolve ultra-small angles.

Enclosure: 12-ID-E.

Note

The collimator and analyzer are channel-cut crystal stages, each carrying a crystal rocking rotation plus alignment translations and a piezo fine-tilt. They reuse the catalog RotaryStage (the rocking rotation is the operative axis; channel-cut versus multi-bounce is a per-Asset setting, not a new optic Family). The rocking-curve angular scan is the USAXS Capability, deferred (USAXS-1, BONSE-1).

Name Family PV Key specs Replaceable Status
CollimatorStage RotaryStage confirm: Bonse-Hart collimator stage (UsaxsCollimatorStageDevice): rocking rotation usxAERO:m12, x/y align, r2p piezo usxLAX:pi:c0:m2; axis detail is BONSE-1 Bonse-Hart collimator crystal stage; channel-cut is a setting; the crystal cut and rocking tolerance are BONSE-1 new confirm
AnalyzerStage RotaryStage confirm: Bonse-Hart analyzer stage (UsaxsAnalyzerStageDevice): rocking rotation usxAERO:m6, x/y align, r2p piezo usxLAX:pi:c0:m1; axis detail is BONSE-1 Bonse-Hart analyzer crystal stage; the rocking-curve scan against the collimator is the USAXS measurement (USAXS-1, BONSE-1) new confirm
